Racket Shapes Explained: Round vs Teardrop vs Diamond

Every padel racket falls into one of three shapes, and that shape tells you more about how it'll play than almost any spec sheet.

Round — Control

Weight is centred, giving the largest sweet spot and the most even balance. Easiest to maneuver at the net, most forgiving on off-center hits. Best for beginners and control-first players who win points through placement rather than pace.

Teardrop — Balance

A middle ground: the sweet spot shifts slightly toward the top of the frame, adding power without giving up too much maneuverability. This is the shape most intermediate and all-round players end up on, because it doesn't force you to commit to one style.

Diamond — Power

Weight is concentrated at the top of the frame, which means smashes and bandejas hit harder — but the smaller sweet spot punishes mistimed shots, and the head-heavy balance is tougher on the arm over long sessions. Built for advanced and attacking players.
